Our work remains focused on protecting the health specifically of gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM). Importantly, appointments for all of these services are now made exclusively through the new DoviraU platform.

How did we get here, what do we believe in, and what services can you actually get? Here’s the story.

Our Story: From First Testing Sessions to Large-Scale National Programs

DoviraU didn’t appear out of nowhere. Behind this direction stands years of enormous work by the ALLIANCE.GLOBAL team, which has consistently built a system of services that today protects the health of thousands of people across Ukraine. Our organization specializes deeply in the prevention of HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and actively defends the rights of LGBTIQ+ people while helping reduce homo-, bi-, and transphobia in society.

Here are the key milestones of our journey in HIV prevention that we’re genuinely proud of:

• 2016: Our creative team launched its first information campaign on the importance of free HIV and STI testing for MSM. Thanks to its success and demand within the community, by 2018 this initiative had scaled into a nationwide program.
• 2018 — a historic breakthrough: ALLIANCE.GLOBAL (with support from the Alliance for Public Health and the Kyiv City AIDS Center) became the first organization in Ukraine to pilot pre-exposure HIV prophylaxis (PrEP). We started with 100 initial courses in Kyiv. That successful start laid a solid foundation, and from 2019 onward the organization began rolling out a national PrEP program in many other regions of the country.
• The challenges of 2022: With the start of the full-scale invasion, we found ourselves in a new reality. The organization immediately focused on providing urgent humanitarian assistance to internally displaced LGBTIQ+ people. We restored our shelter and set up a network of safe spaces in 8 regions of Ukraine in total: Kyiv, Lviv, Cherkasy, Chernivtsi, Odesa, Dnipro, Poltava, and Kharkiv. Beyond meeting basic needs, we understood how critical psychological support was, so we launched a dedicated mental health program — MentalTalk. We also continued providing financial assistance for relocation, food, and essential medication to those affected by the war.
• Today: All of our vast expertise has come together into a single, comprehensive program area — DoviraU. We’ve relaunched our approach to build a modern digital and physical platform that unites the core sexual health services.

Since January 2024, the pre-exposure prophylaxis program has been running thanks to funding from the Global Fund, and our information campaign is implemented with support from Expertise France.

Our Mission and Values: Why Are We Called DoviraU?

The name itself reflects the fundamental principle behind it — absolute trust (“довіра” means “trust” in Ukrainian). We know very well that conventional medicine can sometimes mean anxious waiting rooms, uncomfortable questions, and even stigma. We completely break down that barrier.

All of our services are built on four core, unshakeable rules:

• Empathy and a peer-to-peer approach. We don’t judge, we don’t count your partners, and we don’t scare you with diagnoses. In our safe spaces, you’ll meet social workers with similar lived experience who are ready to guide you through every step of getting services, answer your questions in plain language, and, where needed, support you in taking further care of your health.

• A sex-positive approach. Sex is natural, great, and enjoyable. We talk about it completely openly and without shame. Our only job is to give you reliable information and effective tools to make your sex safe too.

• Absolute confidentiality. Your privacy matters to us just as much as your physical health. The process of receiving every single one of our services is strictly confidential. Everything discussed during a consultation stays only between you and the specialist, always.

• Expertise in plain language. We rely exclusively on evidence-based medicine and WHO international protocols. But we avoid complex medical terminology. We explain every process so that it’s as clear as possible what’s happening at each stage of testing or getting PrEP.

1) Comprehensive HIV and STI Testing

Early diagnosis is the foundation of taking care of your health. At DoviraU spaces, you can get tested quickly, safely, and virtually painlessly for HIV, syphilis, and viral hepatitis B and C.

• How it works: The procedure takes just 15–20 minutes. You’ll get your rapid test result, a professional consultation, and free quality condoms with lubricant.
• If HIV is detected: We take on full social support and ensure fast access to highly active antiretroviral therapy (ART). 2) Pre-Exposure HIV Prophylaxis (PrEP)

For HIV-negative men who have sex with men, we offer the most modern method of protection. PrEP is a special course of pills that, when taken correctly, reduces the risk of HIV infection by more than 99%. It’s reliable medical protection that works discreetly, unnoticed by those around you.

• Getting it at a DoviraU location: The service is available at our physical spaces in 6 cities of Ukraine (Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Poltava, and Cherkasy). In Kyiv and Lviv, the medication is dispensed on the spot.
• TelePrEP service: To make prevention accessible everywhere, we launched remote registration and delivery of the medication across government-controlled territory of Ukraine.
