If literally PrEP (Pre-exposure prophylaxis) is PRE-exposure prophylaxis, pills that are taken a certain time before sexual contact.

Providing access to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PKP) services – the use of ARV drugs by people with HIV-negative status is a recognized means of preventing HIV among people at risk of HIV infection. PrKP is becoming an important and appropriate element of reducing the risk of HIV transmission in those people who use condoms periodically.

Studies conducted in the world have proven the effectiveness of oral PrKP among MSM and indicate that with daily use of the drug, the rate of HIV transmission is reduced to over 99%. With high adherence, PrEP practice is among the WHO (World Health Organization) recommended interventions for people at significant risk of HIV infection.

The NGO ALLIANCE.GLOBAL was the first in Ukraine (with the support of the ICF “Alliance of Public Health” and the Kyiv City AIDS Center) to conduct a pilot project to implement PrEP in Kyiv among MSM/TG for 100 courses in 2018, and has been implementing a national program since 2019.

In the process of obtaining PrEP, the organization provides HIV testing, Hepatitis B testing, and creatinine clearance determination.
