Community Actions for HIV-Control

The project is implemented by the PO”ALLIANCE.GLOBAL” within the framework of the “Innovations to End the HIV Epidemic” project, which is carried out with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
The Community Actions for HIV-Control project focuses on expanding HIV prevention, testing, and treatment services for key populations, particularly MSM and their sexual partners. The project implements a combination of community-based and self-testing approaches to improve early HIV detection and linkage to care.
Social workers and peer recruiters actively engage high-risk individuals through targeted outreach, offering rapid HIV testing, distributing self-testing kits, and facilitating index testing strategies. A significant emphasis is placed on ensuring that those who test positive receive timely medical care. The project has established strong referral mechanisms to link newly diagnosed individuals to health facilities, with high success rates in ART initiation.
Additionally, preventive measures, such as the distribution of condoms and lubricants, help reduce transmission risks. Through a combination of digital engagement, in-person outreach, and peer-led support, the project strengthens access to HIV services while addressing stigma and barriers to healthcare.
