On 11 July 2024, Olena Luhova, the Human Resources Consultant at ALLIANCE.GLOBAL, took part in a crucial networking event organised by the Humanitarian NGO Platform. The gathering served as a forum for national non-governmental organisations to exchange experiences and foster collaboration.
Attendees had the opportunity to gain detailed insights into the Platform’s structure and activities, particularly its various levels, clusters, and working groups. Discussions centred on the benefits of organisational involvement in cluster work and its impact on NGO effectiveness.
“Keeping organisations well-informed allows for swift allocation of aid where it’s most needed, avoiding duplication of efforts and increasing the visibility of an organisation’s work,” Olena noted.
ALLIANCE.GLOBAL is already actively involved in several of the Platform’s working groups. This enables the organisation to respond promptly to humanitarian challenges, avoid overlapping efforts, and enhance the visibility of its work in protecting LGBTIQ+ communities’ rights.
A unique feature of the event was the chance for direct dialogue with key partner representatives, including the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund (UHF), the British Embassy, and the Swiss Embassy in Ukraine. Participants could get answers to pressing questions and discuss prospects for future cooperation.
The second half of the event focused on sharing experiences in advocacy and localising humanitarian initiatives. Consortium representatives shared their learnings and discussed opportunities to strengthen advocacy efforts in human rights protection for LGBTIQ+ individuals.
“Participating in such events is incredibly important for ALLIANCE.GLOBAL,” the organisation’s communications officer remarked. “It allows us to share our expertise, learn from colleagues, and find new ways to effectively support LGBTIQ+ communities in Ukraine.”
“We hope more NGOs will get involved, share their expertise, and help strengthen advocacy on crucial issues,” Olena emphasised.
ALLIANCE.GLOBAL expresses gratitude to the organisers for creating such a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and encourages other NGOs to become more actively involved in the Humanitarian NGO Platform’s work to bolster advocacy on important issues and more effectively protect human rights for all population groups.
“It was an exceptionally engaging format. We’re grateful to the organisers, colleagues, and partners,” Luhova concluded.
