On May 17, 2024, on the occasion of World AIDS Memorial Day, the Million Lives Saved campaign was organized near the Red Ribbon Memorial in Kyiv.

It was organized by the largest patient organization, CO “100% Life”. According to HealthLink, more than 1,000,000 Ukrainians have been tested for HIV in the 7 years of its operation. Over the same period, more than 26,000 Ukrainians have learned their HIV status for the first time and are receiving treatment. This gave them a chance to get help in time.

May 17 is not only a day of mourning for those lost to the AIDS epidemic, but also a day of decisive action to save lives. Unfortunately, Ukraine is one of the first countries in Europe to have the highest number of people living with HIV. However, it is important to remember that modern medicine makes treatment accessible and it is possible to live a full life with HIV.

Through the combined efforts of partners, donors, and the government, steps are being taken to ensure that people have access to prevention, support, testing and treatment programs, even in difficult wartime conditions. One of the key elements of this system is the HealthLink project, the largest HIV testing program in Ukraine.

On this day, we remember those who have been taken by this terrible disease, and we express our determination to do everything possible to stop the epidemic, save lives and give people a chance for a happy future.
