On the 31st of August–4th of September 2015. NGO “Gay-alliance” represented by Andrii Chernyshev, head of external communication and advocacy, took part in the First World Hepatitis Summit, as well as the World Hepatitis Alliance Pre-Summit Members’ Conference in Glasgow, Scotland, UK. It’s the first such event concerning global scale issues of viral hepatitis C and B, which was attended by delegates from 98 countries: patient organizations and other NGOs dealing with issues of hepatitis, international agencies, physicians, donors, WHO and others. Among many interesting meetings with colleagues and organizers, plenary speeches, “role playing game” and information on the latest achievement / problems in the treatment of hepatitis C and cultural program for WHA members were held three training workshops on fundraising, advocacy, media & PR.
“Gay-alliance” is a member of World Hepatitis Alliance in 2011. The subject of viral hepatitis our organization has since 2009, we conducted a rapid testing for HBV and HCV, vaccination against hepatitis B among MSM in Kiev, with the support of ICF “International HIV/AIDS Alliance in Ukraine”. Since 2011 we participate in advocacy and information activities dedicated to World Hepatitis Day on ihe 28th of July. In 2010 and 2011 we implemented two mobilization and learning projects aimed at raising of MSM awareness about the dangers of viral hepatitis and advocacy for vulnerable groups access to diagnosis and treatment of HCV.
