Today, 29 October, the Ministry of Health in Kiev was held national consultations on sustainable response to HIV and tuberculosis in Ukraine. The event was attended representatives of state and public sector in combating of socially dangerous diseases, including the “Gay-alliance”, representatives of the Global Fund.

The meeting participants have discussed proposals of the interdepartmental working group to plan concept of stability programs and services related to HIV infection and tuberculosis in Ukraine, gave an overview concerning of achieving progress on areas of policy development, providing services and finance.
During the meeting were presented the activities of UNICEF to prevent interruption of treatment for patients with HIV and TB temporarily outside the control of the Government of Ukraine territories, and regional offices of WHO and UNAIDS, in turn, have outlined country’s progress in developing and implementing the Comprehensive guide WHO’s treatment to further ensure the stability of programs.

The Minister of Health Oleksandr Kvitashvili said that despite the economic and political situation in Ukraine, the government is not ready to even partially fund the programs that is funding the Global Fund at this time, either today or no tomorrow.
Nicolas Kanto from Global Fund said that they could support a regional grant to maintain of sustainable response and advocacy of programs transition for vulnerable groups for public funding.
Prof. Natalia Nizova from the tribune has reported that on 27 October UNAIDS has adopted a new Strategy for 2016-20 and a third of all funds must be found from internal resources of the state.
