Deputy Executive Director of NGO “Gay Alliance” Roman Marchenko took part in the European consultation on HIV prevention among MSM (European NGO Expert Meeting on HIV-Prevention among MSM), which was organized Deutsche AIDS-Hilfe and took place in Berlin.
At a meeting was attended by representatives of over 20 European countries and analyzed the “latest” trends in health and culture of MSM, namely:
PEP: the availability and availability of medicines information support services, value;
Drugs and MSM: results of the Pan-European studies, preventive use, types and popularity;
PrEP (pre- exposure prophylaxis): availability, accessibility, cost and results of latest research;
Home testing: strengths and weaknesses of the procedure; availability and legality.
At a meeting was an opportunity to analyze the various schemes of work with MSM in different regions of Europe and, of course, to bring the situation in Ukraine. It should be noted that Europe is not monotonous in all the above issues and the situation is different from the West to the South, from North to East.
Unpleasant news for Kyiv is its leadership in the European space in using tobacco products (according to online survey EMIS, 2010,http://www.emis-project.eu/). Therefore, take care of their own health and not “Improve” European statistics.
