On 20 November in the premises of «100% life» – was held working meeting to discuss the estimates of number the representatives of key groups on HIV: #PWID, sex workers, #MSM, as well as people living with HIV.
The event was organized by the Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine supported by The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), which was attended by researchers, representatives of state and non-governmental organizations, leaders of key communities and #PLWH.
Ihor Kuzin, a representative of the Center for Public Health, emphasized the importance of conducting an assessment of the number of people who use injecting drugs (PWID), sex workers (#SW) and men who have sex with men (MSM) in 2018 – it`s a year to determine the quantitative indicators for the development of prevention programs and the planning of programs and projects to counteract the spread of HIV infection, and in the context of the transition from donor to state funding on HIV and TB programs as well, for these groups and the correct planning of programs for prevention, care and support for them.
The participants of the event have expressed their wish to improve the existing estimated number of representatives of key groups to prevent their overestimate or understatement and to present the most realistic estimates to date.
