On October 18, in the framework of the 11th National LGBTI Conference of Ukraine (18-20.10.2018), was held an open session on the introduction of pre-exposure prophylaxis (#PrEP) as the latest method of HIV prevention in Ukraine. The meeting was attended by about 50 participants – MSM/LGBT activists and other key communities, NGO`s staff working in the field of HIV/AIDS in Ukraine, heads and representatives of international organizations such as CDC, Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS in Ukraine, Альянс громадського здоров’я Alliance for Public Health, representatives of public sector – the Центр громадського здоров’я МОЗ України Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and so on.

Currently, a demonstration project on PrEP implementation among 100 MSM and transgender women in Kyiv (November 2017 – March 2019) is being implemented by Public Organization “ALLIANCE.GLOBAL”.
Further steps were discussed. From December this year, a large-scale intervention throughout Ukraine (mode: daily intake) is scheduled to take place in two ways, namely:
– 1400 Year PrEP courses (funded by PEPFAR / CDC, through the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine);
– 1500 Year PrEP courses for MSM (funded by the Global Fund, through Alliance for Public Health).
